Reading
At St Joseph’s Catholic Voluntary Academy, we believe that reading is the key to unlocking a lifetime of learning. Through reading, children develop the confidence to understand the world around them, communicate effectively and grow as independent learners. Hand in hand with God, Our Lady and St Joseph, we strive to nurture not only confident readers but also children who develop a genuine love of books and storytelling.
Reading is at the heart of our curriculum and underpins learning across every subject. We are committed to ensuring that every child becomes a fluent, confident reader through high-quality teaching, engaging texts and regular opportunities to read for both pleasure and purpose.
We know that children who read regularly, both at school and at home, are more likely to achieve their full potential. That is why we work closely with families to foster positive reading habits, celebrate a love of reading and inspire children to become lifelong readers.
