Welcome to our Year 4 Class

What you need to bring to school

Children will need their waterproof coat, a bottle filled with water, a bag for reading books and homework and a packed lunch (if required). Pencil cases and other school equipment will be provided for children by school. It is important that we limit what is being brought into school, so pencil cases and other accesories from home won’t be needed.

Break

Just like in Year 3, children have one breaktime in the morning. For this time, they are welcome to bring a healthy snack with them to eat during break.

PE

The children will need to come to school in their PE kits on Mondays (outdoor) and Thursdays (indoor). However, some children will be doing Forest School on a Monday instead of PE. Therefore they may have to wear warmer clothes, other clothing specifically for Forest School will be provided. Letters will explain all of this when your child is going to partake in Forest School.

Advent Term 1

This information is currently being updated.

Reading

Your child will have a reading scheme book, which will have a specific colour that the children will know (for example- grey, brown etc). In addition to this, they will have a library book. The children should be reading and recording this in their homework book around three times a week. They are welcome to write this down when they read on their own or with somebody at home. Their class teacher will have explained how they would like the children to record this. If you have any questions about this, you’re more than welcome to email.

Century

Most homework this year, is going to be directed towards Century. We will set this homework every Friday and homework clubs will be set up in class for anyone that would prefer to do this at school. The childrens login for Century will be stuck in the back of their homework book.

Times Tables Rock Stars

Times Tables Rock Stars is a great resource for the children to practice their times tables. By the end of Year 4, the children will have been taught all of them. Children are recommended to go on a few times a week as part of their homework. There will also be a TT Rock Stars club in school, every Thursday lunchtime, where the children can play and practice.

Homework Book

The only things that need to be recorded or will be going into their homework books are:

  • Times Table grids to help the children practice. They will need to complete these after every Friday.
  • Knowledge organisers (Topic and RE).
  • Reading scheme and library book reading.
