Welcome to our Year 5 Class

Class Charities

Determined Dias (Mrs Marsh and Mrs Tillett) – Derby City Mission

Helpful Hudgells (Miss Peake) – Children First Derby

Class Books

Each term, the teacher will read at least one book aloud to the class. If your child would like to bring in their own copy of the book to follow as the teacher reads, they are more than welcome to but this is not an expectation. For this term the books will be:

Mrs Tillett – Beetle Boy by M.G. Leonard

Miss Peake – The Lost Magician by Piers Torday

Mrs Marsh – A Pinch of Magic by Michelle Harrison

PE Days

Determined Dias will be going swimming on a Thursday throughout Advent 1. Helpful Hudgells will go swimming after half term, during Advent 2. They will need to bring swimming costume/shorts and a towel.

PE will also take place for both classes on a Wednesday afternoon and a Tuesday afternoon (when they’re not swimming). Children should come to school in their PE kits on PE days. Earrings MUST be taken out before the session.

Advent Term 1

This information is currently being updated.

Children should be reading at home every night. There is an expectation that homework diaries must be signed by parents/carers twice weekly when they have been heard read.

Times Tables Rock Stars

There will be regular battles set which children are expected to partake in on TTRockstars in order to become fluent with times tables. To search for our school, please type in the postcode DE23 6SB.

Maths and English homework will be set weekly on Century.

If your child is struggling to access any of the online homework, please email your class teacher.

Children have their own usernames and passwords for TTRockstars, Century and Google Education Suite (Google Drive and Gmail).
